Ecological Solutions in the Interpretation of Marah Labid: Linkage to Modern Issues

Abstract


This research examines the ecological understanding of the Tafsir Marah Labid by Imam Nawawi al-Bantani, especially related to kauniyah verses in the Qur'an. This research uses a qualitative method with a content analysis approach to Marah Labid's interpretation. It relates it to contemporary environmental issues, such as climate change and the exploitation of natural resources. The study results show that Imam Nawawi emphasized the importance of maintaining the balance of nature as part of human responsibility as a caliph on earth. This interpretation also highlights the obligation of humans not to damage the environment because such actions are a form of disobedience to Allah. In addition, the study found that the interpretation of verses related to the creation of nature and the prohibition of earth damage is very relevant to modern ecology, which emphasizes sustainability and moderation in the use of natural resources. As such, Marah Labid's interpretation provides a strong ethical guide in facing global ecological challenges, making it relevant to study environmental conservation efforts in the modern era.
